Dear Dr Pipes: Most of what various muslim proponents of polygamy said in this article is absurd. I hope that these guys are rare among the rarest and there are not many of this kind.

There are thousands of reasons why polygamy is absurd but let me add one more. About 22% of American women make more money than their husbands. If a man can have four wifes each making more money than him, he will not only be able to meet the Quranic condition (that a man should be able to provide for all his wives), with some luck, he will not have to work himself! That can be termed heaven on earth. And, of course, if a woman does not mind sharing her man with another, why should she mind sharing her money with the men and his other wives. Polygamy is an idea made for 21st century!
