The Propaganda Value

Reader comment on item: Rooting for Ahmadinejad

Submitted by John Peterson (United States), Jun 22, 2009 at 21:21

I remarked myself before this election that if the Iranians were smart, they would engineer the victory of a "moderate" candidate in order to take advantage of the West's wishful thinking. The election of Ahmadinejad over Mousavi makes no real difference, except that his overt belligerence makes it easier for the West to see Iran's evil. Thus I agree with Mr. Pipes.

Another word-- Mr. Pipes responded to a commenter from Tehran by remarking that the commenter's IP address indicated that he was in the United States. Mr. Pipes should know that this is no indication of the commenter's dishonesty, for Iranians often use foreign proxy servers to get around the regime's censorship. This would explain the non-Iranian IP address.
