When I asked about becoming a Muslim...

Reader comment on item: Finding Allah in Unlikely Places

"How did you become a Muslim?" I asked Nazreen (a Muslim lady) recently.
"I don't know," she answered. "My mother and father were Muslim, so I am also Muslim."
"Oh," I thought to myself, "Is this 'inherited faith'?"
Anyway, I continued. "Are there any members at your Mosque who were not born Muslim?"
"I don't know," she answered. "I don't think so."
"Is it possible for ME to become a Muslim?" I continued.
"I don't know," she replied. "I would have to ask."

I bring this to the attention of the wonderful generous Muslims who are so anxious and willing to convert us non-Muslims to Islam. Most of you people have NO interest in having "outsiders" enter your faith, and I have NO doubt that if I became a Muslim, the LEAST welcome place I would be is the mosque where Nazreen attends 7 days a week with her family. You people are constantly looking for faults and offense everywhere you can find it. Christians have to put up with sacrilege on a daily basis, but one would think that every running shoe is an intentional offense to Allah. So let's cut the BS.

Nuff said.
