Immigration in Sweden: The numbers and nothing but the numbers

Reader comment on item: Europeans Fleeing Eurabia

Submitted by pong (Denmark), Apr 22, 2008 at 16:32

If I only got my information from this web-site, I would think that Sweden is about to be taken over by muslims. Fortunately, there are others sources of information.

I went to this site, http://www.ssd.scb.se/, which is the Swedish bureau of statistics. And from their searchable database I compiled the following list, which ranks the number of immigrants in Sweden by country of birth. I've added the numbers for some countries (by region or cultural similarities) together to give a better overview.

Apart from a ... surge (!) in the number of immigrants from Iraq (and we all know why they left their homeland, right?), I don't see any support for any theory about Swedes fleeing their country because it's being flooded by Muslims. Can you ? Check for yourself:

First, I am not responsible for every quote of others' research.

Second, itthe figures you cite show large-scale Muslim immigration to Sweden. The 2007 numbers include 98,000 Iraqis, 84,000 from the former Yugoslavia, 57,000 Iranians, 38,000 Turks, and so on. For a country o 9 million, these are very large, indeed.

Third, these numbers overwhelm the number of Swedes leaving the country, a mere 45,000.
