Reader comment on item: Teach Arabic or Recruit Extremists?

Submitted by David W. Lincoln (Canada), Sep 5, 2007 at 18:34

What matters the most is the curriculum. As long as the Arabic language is used as a tool by those who have the greatest opposition to "J'Accuse" and the Magna Carta - we will see more and more dragon's teeth sown. About the only thing that is redeemable of the justifications of the brigands who stormed out of the Arabian Peninsula for conquest 1600 years ago, the only thing is an honouring of the Virgin Mary. Start there and jettison the rest, and then graft the objective truths that have flourished when empires, cultures and nations have been at their peak. For as far as I am concerned, the greater the opposition to "J'Accuse" and the Magna Carta, the less the amount of light emanates from the lamp of Lady Liberty - and less of a vitally important criterian of the task of building a healthy society.
