Teach Arabic...why?

Reader comment on item: Teach Arabic or Recruit Extremists?

Submitted by Tia (United States), Sep 5, 2007 at 16:46

It is incredibly disturbing that Islamic schools are becoming acceptable in the US. All the scrutiny of non-Muslims is well founded, based on what we learn what the children are exposed to. In order for us to feel comfortable with Muslims, we want to see the youngest generations of Muslims integrate into American society, and accept our culture. Children are very impressionable, so by isolating themselves in Arab schools, they are not privy to understanding or acceptance of American values. They need exposure to people of different origins and religious faiths. If Muslim parents are so disenchanted with our American schools, and require their children attend Arab schools, then maybe it is time that they relocate to any number of Muslim countries where their children will not be subjected to such 'moral decay.'
