Utter rubbish

Reader comment on item: Israel's Unnecessary War
in response to reader comment: Shame on Israel and The US for supporting massive aggression against civilians (i.e. terrorism)

Submitted by Terry (European Union), Feb 26, 2007 at 18:17

Did Israel ask for the war? that requires only a yes or no, and the simple answer is no, they did not. Continuous and indiscriminate rocket attacks from Hezbollah were responsible.

Israel did it's best to avoid killing civilians, but when the glorious freedom fighters of Hezbollah chose to skulk and hide behind civilian skirts what was Israel supposed to do? The Israeli forces were more than a match for these heroic fighters, so why did they not advance as far as they could have done? because they were not trying to kill civilians that is why, they did in fact have many Israeli troops killed, trying not to kill non-combatants. The very non-combatants being used as shields by the wonderful freedom fighters.

As for Israel being clever, and making the Hezbollah hate mongers look the aggressor, that has been tried, and tried again by Israel. Anyone able to actually think knows already and has abundant proof that Hezbollah, Hamas and all the others are the real aggressors, who do not believe that the state of Israel has a right to exist. You cannot argue with that mentality, if indeed you can call it a mentality at all.

I remember the way the Israelis saw them off in the 73 war. That too was not started by Israel, in fact it was started on a Jewish holiday, hoping to catch them unawares, and unready, what bravery!!
