Dr. Pipes,
I read your article, "CAIR: Islamists Fooling the Establishment," and I completely understand your concerns about working with CAIR. What I do want to ask though is what moderate Muslim organizations should we be working with instead? The Muslim community is a growing minority in this country and I don't think we can simply ignore their existence.
Instead of simply bashing CAIR and its activities, a positive way to respond to this would be to begin working with respectable Muslim institutions. In order to counter the extremist attitudes in Islam we must raise the voices of moderate Muslims and make them the legitimate understanding of the religion. I appreciate your time and research in finding out who we should NOT work with, but what positive steps can we take from here? Who should we talk to instead?
Thank you, Naomi

Daniel Pipes replies:
I agree, exposing CAIR does not suffice. I have pulled together a bibliography of my writings on moderate Muslims at "Naming Moderate Muslims," http://www.danielpipes.org/blog/390. One of these days, I hope to write specifically on moderate Muslim organizations.
