Reformist Muslims Announce a Cartoon and Drawing CompetitionReader comment on item: Are the Palestinians the World's Most Radicalized Population? Submitted by Edip Yuksel (United States), Feb 18, 2006 at 18:11 Reformist Muslims Announce a Cartoon and Drawing Competition: "Muhammad, a Messenger of Peace."As islamic reformers and progressive muslims, we are announcing an award for a cartoon/portrait of Muhammad that would depict him accurately as a human being and a messenger of peace and progress. We will publish the winning portrait at www.islamicreform.org, www.19.org and in our upcoming "The Quran: A Reformist Translation." We may also publish many other submissions of high quality. Our next step will be to make a computer animated feature film about Muhammad's life. In that film, Muhammad will be represented by a human figure, not a camel, as in the movie, "The Message," where Anthony Quinn played Muhammad's uncle. To read our reaction to the recent cartoon controversy and our evaluation of it under the light of the teaching of the Quran, please visit: http://19.org/?cartoon www.islamicreform.org You will also find there the rules of the competition, Edip Yuksel www.19.org www.islamicreform.org www.yuksel.org Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
