Reader comment on item: The Way to Peace

Submitted by Barry Black (United States), Dec 19, 2016 at 11:41

After the defeat of the Arab armies in 1948, an Arab diplomat said that they have a secret weapon and that weapon was "time". And the Palestinians have never wavered from that concept believing that a better deal lies ahead. Arafat went one better and said that their secret weapon is the Arab women's womb! Twice Israel offered the Palestinians a state, once under Barak and once under Olmert with a divided Jerusalem and both were thwarted believing and perhaps knowing that a better deal was in the future especially since a large number of nations seem to side with the Palestinians.

It would seem that a two-state solution is a reasonable and logical conclusion, but the Arab mind, honed in the mode of Mohammed (blessed be his name) and indoctrinated through 1300 years of Islamic teaching indicates that the way to peace is through annihilation of the enemy----and that usually works!

As a side note: if the nations of the world had gotten tougher with the Palestinians, there would have been two states a long time ago, but would there be peace??!!
