Reader comment on item: Blowback from Criticizing Trump
in response to reader comment: Re: Gary Johnson

Submitted by Anne Julienne (Australia), Jul 25, 2016 at 17:30

I read an analysis of this somewhere that indicated that the result could be mixed, that is, the house choose a president from one party and the senate from the other. If Trump was just a nose ahead of Clinton, this could then result in his still retaining the presidency but having a democrat VP (maybe even Clinton?). At the very least, this would be very embarrassing for him and might have an impact on his brazenness. If Clinton was a nose ahead, she might have to accept Pence as VP and this might at least result in a moderating influence.

So, even if Johnson does not actually win, a vote for him could influence the outcome in favourable ways.
