Islamist Turkey?

Reader comment on item: How Turkey Went Bad

Submitted by JIMJFOX (Australia), Oct 4, 2014 at 01:21

Living in south-western Turkey for 2 years I was surprised by two things-

the warmth of the people and their brainwashed (Islamic) anti-Semitism.

Most youth seem disinterested in Islam, even scornful yet many intelligent

educated middle-aged Turks believe Koranic nonsense (salt/fresh waters

can't mix, sun sets in a muddy pool, etc, etc.

Erdogan's insidious Islamisation, aided by ignorant but influential Islamic

'scholars' such as Harun Yahya is lapped up by the majority of older Turks.

This is disheartening at a time when reason and science ought to prevail.

I have opined that NATO membership should be cancelled; seeing no prospect

of improvement from either political party, rather ever more Ottoman ambitions.
