Dr. Pipes:

Are US/Turkey relations strained? It seems to me that VP Biden recently made some factual remarks at Harvard University only to find that he made Erdogan fuming mad.

What's going on here? Are US/Turkey relations more strained than it seems on the surface? Did VP Biden make any real mistake or insult to warrant Erdogan's demand for an apology?

Biden probably somewhat erred in his description of what he heard from the Turkish president (no one ever accused Biden of being the sharpest blade in the drawer) but I expect that he got the basics right.
