This does not surprise me in the least.

However, it seems that the Turkish embassy in Cairo forwards all the names of Egyptians applying for visitor visas to Amn el-Dawla (the national security department) and if one happens to have a beard or have a zebiba on his forehead in other words he looks like a salafist/jihadist then he will be denied the visa and the reason is the Turks know that many Egyptian jihadists (and many of them are fighting and some were killed in Syria) are trying to enter Syria either via Turkey or via Lebanon

So how do you explain it?
