not because withdrawals are the right thing to do but because the settlements were placed in exactly the wrong place, blocking Arabs from gaza city from moving west to the Sinai. Protecting them in a double balloon fashion was something vast swathes of Israeli society were unwilling to invest in.

Secondly, economically those settlements were based on Arab labor, which is wrong wrong wrong.
