Reader comment on item: [Symposium on] The U.S. and Israel

This is an interesting topic of which there are very polarized opinions for the interesting reason that support for Israel within the US political spectrum has become a partisan issue. The Democrats' ideological orientation has switched to being (relatively) un-supportive of Israel. Perhaps this is due to the growing population of evangelical Christians and their overt sympathies for Israel. Perhaps the fact that it is a religious motivation pushes them to the polar opposite side in order not to be affiliated with religious zealots. It is an issue worth exploring in great depth.

It is worth exploring. I expect the Left's increasing coolness toward Israel has more to do with its own evolution than a reaction to the Evangelical embrace of the Jewish state.
