What Dad and the Uncles Did Evidently are Lost National Memories

Reader comment on item: [Symposium on] The U.S. and Israel
in response to reader comment: What did you do in the war dad?

Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Jun 4, 2012 at 14:01

What my dad (and uncles) did in the war was an exercise in being ready to defend freedom at whatever cost. Nationally, we could have responded better; but the circumstances of the time were as politically charged then as they are now.

It is beginning to appear as though those lessons were lost in the filter of the Viet Nam haze of not remembering what it took to win, the power of that being lost in the courts during the beginning of the Viet Nam crisis. Two generations later, this is going to cost us again.
