Wrong Naming

Reader comment on item: Obama's Pretend Counterterrorism Policy

Submitted by Mark D (United States), Sep 10, 2011 at 19:13

The state of affairs Dr. Pipes is that you do not believe Islam the religion is the enemy and that it is not evil.

Although one can argue credibly and compellingly that Islam is indeed the enemy and is evil, I am with you on this.

But the name of the enemy you are using, which is "Islamism", is problematic. Islam Islamism Islam Islamism. For the love of god, just looking at the name you know Islam is part of it.

Obama in this case I believe knows that so he doesn't want to use the term Islamism. You should follow his lead and stop using the term Islamism if you believe Islam is not the enemy.

Mark D.
