InsanityReader comment on item: The System "Worked Really Very, Very Smoothly" in Detroit? Submitted by pdm (United States), Jan 4, 2010 at 12:09 Let me propose a scenrio and have everyone tell me whether it indicates an insane condition: Suppose I have a leak in the water main of my home basement (for convenience let it be downstream of the shutoff valve). Now let us envision a solution to the increasing level of water in the basement. One possible solution would be to call several friends over to form a bucket brigade in order to bail out the water in the basement. If this does not stop the increasing level, I could call more friends and form another brigade: or give the first group larger buckets. Theoretically, I could form enough bucket lines to decrease the water level to near zero - I could never really get to zero water level. Did I mention that there is a shutoff valve in the basement that will stop the flow of water? Now I ask you. Which solution is analogous to prohibiting me from bringing shampoo on an airline flight? Call the doctor because I am indeed insane. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
