RE: Debanjan Banerjee

Reader comment on item: "Hamas is Worse than Israel, Worse than Sharon"
in response to reader comment: Regarding Muslims willing to marry Jewish woman

Submitted by Froike (United States), Aug 3, 2009 at 14:48

I just came across your commentary; from a secular point of view, I can't say that I totally disagree. However, from an Orthodox Jewish point of view, intermarriage is a no-no. I would dare say that even Reform and/or Conservative Jews would not be thrilled about their daughters marrying out of the faith. Unless, of course, their husbands were willing to convert to Judaism.

Just FYI, there are organizations in Israel that actually rescue Jewish Women and their children from Arab Villages. Unfortunately, in most of these marriages (Arab Men/Jewish Women), the women end up being mentally and physically abused by their husbands. They are virtually held prisoner against their will.

Don't take this reply as an insult...I'm sure there are many good Muslim men who are ideal husbands and fathers, but I don't think they would be thrilled at the thought of intermarriage either.

Submitting....
