The guy Alex mentioned, Mohammadali Abtahi, was Khatami's vice president and chief of staff during his terms (1997-2005), and one of the first Iranian officials to have a personal weblog (http://www.webneveshteha.com/en/ ). he was considered the most socially open and reformist mullah in Tehran.

He was a top aide to presidential hopeful Karoubi, and has been arrested since the election and his family have not heard from him for more than a month. He remains in jail on the allegation of being one of the main planners of the unrest against Ahmadinejad's government.
