Daniel: Some years ago, I read the Koran in translation. Like a lot of the 60's generation, I eschewed my own Western background in search of the higher meaning of existence. No, I never considered becoming a Moslem, it was just one of many books that I read besides the Bagadvah Gita. I recall lots of talk about blood, but beyond that it didn't impress me or touch me. One could easily conclude that some con man with a penchant for power and a good sales pitch created a religion and an empire at the same time.
This is probably a very cynical view. It occurs to me that you could do the world a great service by providing a web page explaining exactly what Moslems believe , and how they came to believe it without being too abstruse. You could also help by explaining where moderate leaves off and militant begins. Perhaps there are already resurces available on the internet that would assist. Westerners need a perspective that reflects our world view. Personally, I would like to see the beauty in Islam. I would like to believe that it really exists but have yet to encounter it.
