A Man of Brilliance and CourageReader comment on item: The U.S. Institute of Peace Stumbles Submitted by Steven Hess (United States), Mar 23, 2004 at 11:41 Re: "The U.S. Institute of Peace Stumbles," my admiration for Daniel Pipes' briliance, insights and courage is exceeded only by my disbelief and, indeed, horror that our government still "doesn't get it." What disasters need to befall us before we realize that we are in an all-out war for survival. The response yesterday of the President that the U.S. is "troubled" by the assassination of the murderous head of Hamas is just the latest example of our government's unwillingness to face reality so as not to offend our gutless "allies" and pandering to the hometown Muslims. No one questions the U.S. "targeting" Bin Laden but Israel has no such basic rights. We will learn in time but it will be a costly lesson.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
