Enough about Islam?

Reader comment on item: Rushdie Fails to Move the Zealots
in response to reader comment: Rushidee

Submitted by Linda Haslam (United States), Apr 22, 2008 at 11:29

When I did not know enough about Islam, I always said that It didn't matter what name you gave to the concept of God; it only mattered that you recognized the existence of a higher power. I now know better.

The very fact that a Fatwa was declared against Rushdie for writing a novel (a piece of fiction) and that said Fatwa was approved of in the Islamic world is enough to establish that Islam is incompatible with "Freedom and Democracy."
