Satanic VersesReader comment on item: Rushdie Fails to Move the Zealots Submitted by Linda Haslam (United States), Apr 19, 2008 at 11:58 According to what I have studied, Mohammed said good things to certain men of Mecca regarding three of the Arab Goddesses. After he was rebuked by his followers (less than 150 at that time) he countered by saying that Satan must have put those words in his mouth. Therefore, I think Rushdie was very clear when he titled this allegory "The Satanic Verses." Also, you are either mistaken or you are being deceitfful when you say "that Muslims accept that Jesus had no father." Those precise words are intended to make me believe that you are saying that Muslims accept that Jesus is the son of God. We both know that not only is this not true, but that the Temple Mount states in Arabic over its entrance that "God has no son." Do I believe that Muhammed is a prophet?. Not really. I think that we didn't pay close enough attention to Jesus whan he told us to beware of false prophets. He also said in John 16:2 "the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you, will think that he doeth God's service." I do believe that there are millions of truly moral Muslims; but I believe that they have reached this level of elevated consciousness not because of, but in spite of Islamic ideology.
