Did Arabs really envision or strive for an "independent Palestinian state" before 1964?Reader comment on item: The Year the Arabs Discovered Palestine [Short version] Submitted by DrRJP (United States), Jan 29, 2008 at 20:55 ... although the Arabs wanted to make an independent state out of Palestine between 1920 and 1948, I've never seen where they wanted to call it the "Independent State of Palestine." Even in the UN partition plan of 1948, "Palestine" was never mentioned. The plan called for an independent Arab state and an independent Jewish state. Am I wrong?
