Lying

Reader comment on item: Is Tariq Ramadan Lying [about Magdi Allam]?

Submitted by Donald W. Bales (United States), Mar 5, 2007 at 17:17

It was part of Communist custom to lie. I believe that it was done as a matter of policy. Do some Islamists teach that it is not only okay, but a duty to lie to enemies, especially if they are Jews or Christians?
Of course, lying is not new. Moses brought down a commandment about false witness so they must have been having trouble with that way back then. We have a lot of lying in the U.S. as well, but it is not a spokein or written policy.

But liars can get caught, and then thinking people no longer find them credible. But a big enough lie, repeated often enough to gullible people, becomes accepted as truth.
