good muslims should do their part

Reader comment on item: The Enemy Within [and the Need for Profiling]

Submitted by Frank Gutierrez (United States), Jan 29, 2003 at 22:23

I am an American citizen who was fortunate enough to escape Castro's communist regime at a very early age in the 60's. I love this country, the freedoms it provides, and the opportunities available to all. If for some reason the U.S. was to have a similar problem with Castro's regime and Cuban Americans as it is having today with the general Muslim population I would say: "Inspect me, the Cuban Americans, and all their activities as much as you want". Once you see that I am completely free from any wrongdoing, that I completely renounce the evil doings of those with a twisted mind, and that I wholeheartedly support the betterment of the U.S. will I have the right to denounce the profiling of any anybody, even if it happens to be a religious group. Those people that are completely free in deed and thought of any malice have no reason for worry. Those truly good Muslims out there that represent the human side of Islam should start speaking out against those Muslims that defile your own religion. If not for anything else than for the betterment of your own people and the name of your own religion.
