Promotion of False Religion in the Boy Scouts

Reader comment on item: Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts Promote Radical Islam

Submitted by Leigh Ann Coudriet (United States), Oct 11, 2006 at 11:19

This matter has concerned me greatly in the past year. My son is a member but I am re-evaluating our decision because I recently discovered by looking through his handbook that the BSA produces and promotes religious training for all religions, including Islam, Buddhist, Universalist and many others that I am unfamiliar with. This concerns me greatly because I am a Christian and I thought the BSA was founded on Christian/Judeo teaching/principles. Is this correct? I do not know what your religious beliefs are but I happened to come across your website and wanted to inquire if you have any other information that may be helpful to me.

Thank You, Leigh Ann

Daniel Pipes replies:

You are correct that Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the Boy Scouts, did so very much in the spirit of his Christian outlook.
