Islamic Thinkers Society aka Al Muhajiroun work with ICNA and MAS

Reader comment on item: America's Rude Islamists
in response to reader comment: New York Demonstration

Submitted by Ben van de Polder (United States), Apr 23, 2006 at 20:43

The Islamic Thinkers Society, aka the Intellectual Thinkers Society, is the new face of Al Muhajiroun in the United States. The proof that they are not a fringe organisation can be seen in a list on their website which shows them as organisers of a demonstration in front of the Danish Embassy in New York. Demonstrators carried signs with texts such as "Allah's wrath is on the way".

Incredibly, 4 of the people involved in the protest were able to meet with the Danish ambassador. Considering that ICNA is associated directly with Al Qaeda, the lack of concern for security on the part ot the Danish ambassdor is both irresponsible and alarming.

Irresponsible in that the Danes granted an audience to radical Islamists who support terrorism, and are calling for the destruction of the West, and alarming in that the safety of the Ambassador was compromised.

The Islamic Thinkers Society is closely tied to the Islamic Circle of North America which operates out of Jamaica, Queens. ICNA's Young Muslim Society is tied to the Islamic Thinkers. The Muslim American Society merged with ICNA in 2002 .

"...Four of the rally's organizers met with the Danish ambassador to relate their concerns about what they describe as the demonization of Muslims in that country, as the protest was still underway..."

By and large, the demeanor of the crowd was low-key. "Show tolerance, not hate," read at least a dozen placards. But there were also more pointed signs. One man, who waved a poster that warned, "Insult the Prophet, you will pay, Allah's wrath is on the way," was surrounded by security guards and encouraged to leave the plaza..."

This quote in the paper proves that ICNA/MAS and ITS are linked :

"...The demonstration was aimed at the Danish mission and organized by a group calling itself the Islamic Circle of North America. The Imams of local mosques led their congregations to assemble for prayer at the protest site..."

"...We support free speech, not reckless speech," said Maher El Jamal of the Muslim American Society. "We support driving through the streets of New York, but we do not support drunken driving."
