Muslim and Leftist nexus is just a marriage of convenience.

Dear Dr Pipes,
It is true that in our democracies, the biggest allies of the Muslims are leftists. But we should not try to give too much importance to the leftist-Muslim nexus. It is a marriage of convenience for the Muslims and a romance for the leftists (the leftists, obviously, do not know that this romance is dumb).

As stubborn monotheists, Muslims should hate the Left for resisting God and religions. While Muslim armies have fought wars against every religion of the world (Hindu, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Zoroastrians, Jains, Sikhs etc.), Muslims have hardly ever fought a war against the Left. That is by choice.

Why do Muslims like leftists? The biggest threat to Islam are other non-Islamic religions. Muslims want to destroy every religion other than Islam. In free countries, the Left opposes religions. So Muslims follow the 'enemy's enemy must be friend' dictum and use the Left as a stepping stone toward their ultimate goal of destroying all other religions. The leftists, on the other hand, are dumb. They do not realize that Islam is every thing that the Left does not stand for. If religion is the opium of the masses, Islam must be Heroin of the masses. The Left is not intelligent enough to understand that. They just want votes in the short term and choose not to discriminate between things. Every one who claims to be a victim, is a vote bank and, thus, a friend of the political left.

If Islam's last battle has to be fought against the Left, it is going to be an easy battle for the Muslims because the Left wont mind being culturally Muslim. And, in any case. Jesus or Krishna are bigger threats for Muslims than more and higher taxes. While the adherents of other religions will resist being culturally Muslims, the leftist will not. So, Islam does not mind a future fight with the Left if it were to ever happen.

Our goal should be to convince the Left that Islam is different from all other religions. While all religions have taken anti-science positions in the past and have interfered in politics, Muslims constitute a hidden political movement whose purpose is to grab as much land as possible. Scientific pursuits are orthogonal to that goal and so are not of things of immediate interest to the Mullahs. And, of course, we need to gradually convince Muslims that their religion is not the only and final answer. It may not even be a good answer.
