Why Chabad is a winner

Reader comment on item: More about the Orthodox Future of Judaism

Submitted by Dave (United States), Jun 19, 2022 at 11:38

If you want to learn about Judaism and its nuanced and thoughful system of ethics, then go to Chabad. They give classes, and the sermons always involve traditional stories or further instruction. The rabbis are rigorously trained and thoroughly educated in all aspects of the faith.
If you want to hear contemporary polemics that often predominate over learning the basics of Judaism, then go to a reform or conservative shul.
Think of the Jewish sects as articles in a newspaper: Chabad is like the news, accurately reported; the others are like the opinion page.
Personally, I'd rather learn the facts before the editorializing. It's not surprising that Chabad is the fastest growing Jewish sect in America, now comprising 38% of Jewish participation, the last I've heard.
