Christianity was targeted from the moment its concept was inaugurated in the Genesis acount, when Eve was identified as the progentor of the Savior; and the attacks have not ceased since. And they will not for at least the immedate foreseeable epoch.
That Constantine was able to insinuate a benign change of governmental approach towards the persecution of the followers of the Jewish Messiah also indicated a change of approach as to how Christianity's acceptance of belief did not now need to observe the Jewish basis of salvation as part of the witness.
Instead of a faith based pursuit of belief that followed the commandment as referenced in Matthew 28, the change towards Christianity 'conquering' the pagans and imposing belief instead of offering the choice that the Messiah offered spoke to the infiltration the 'Adversary' instilled in deceiving people to 'converting' instead of real coming to faith; religion took over when it became a thing of works instead of faith. That became the worst thing that overtook Christianity. Thankfully, Yeshua is still in charge and believing in Him is still intact, no matter what the enemy has done to false religious ideologies, even apostate Christianity. Believing in Yeshua still saves; repentance is still the way; just ask the Savior and watch Him respond.
