The "Civilized" West & Freedom

Dear Jeff,

It would be nice if Putin & Biden could settle their difference the way you and I are doing her.

1. After I was born in Czechoslovakia (after Hitler) my family emigrated to Israel where I resided 'till the age of 10 - there I heard my parents listening to the Radio how Egypt's Nasser was going to drive the Jews into the Sea. At that point my parents decided to emigrate to the Wonderful USA where my moms 3 sister reside (1 before Hitler).

2. The Declaration of Independence was issued in 1776; the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863; the 13th Amend. was ratified in 1865; the 14th Amend. in 1865. But the Civil Rights Act of 1964 legally (if not immediately, which enforced the 14th) ended Racism. So, on the one hand, All Men were Declared Equal in 1776; in Reality All Persons were created Legally Equal in 1964 - that's 99 years after the bloody Civil War. To use an anachronistic term, the descendants of African American Slaves were kept in a state of legal "Apartheid" by Racist laws until the 1960's.

3. I did not say that Hitler was a practicing Roman Catholic. But in was born (not in Germany, but) in Austria, a Catholic majority county, and so probably Baptized. The Dominant 'state' of Germany by that time was Protestant Prussia. Anti-Semitism was more common among Roman Catholics than Protestant Christians; and Hitler himself allegedly acknowledged that his Antisemitism "enlightenment" was due to the Notorious Mayor of Vienna, Karl Lueger.

4. Regarding the Abolition of Slavery, you appear for the 2nd time to have overlooked my expression "in the West." At the time in question, THE WEST began with "Germany" and "Italy" (these 2 countries were not yet unified or formed) and extended to Northwest of Europe; it was Portugal, Spain, Holland, and Great Britain that engaged in the Slave Trade and the Colonies to which African Slaves were sent. And the British "rulers" of the Oceans with their Navies were capturing Slave Ships and "liberating" their "chattel" cargo (of black humans from Africa) while the USA had to "breed" their new generation of slaves because they no longer could buy "fresh ones" from Africa.

I hope this clarifies for you the 4 points or so you raised herein?
