Hamas won ?

Reader comment on item: Who Won, Israel or Hamas?
in response to reader comment: 11 Days in May

If mr. Pipes is right, when saying:"Hamas won, if thy are able to start a new war", Hamas certainly won. Because starting a new war is their only reason to exist.
But in my opinion, Hamas cannot defeat Israel, as long as they are isolated in Gaza, Fatah is in possession of the West Bank, most palestinians in Israel keep quiet, and Iran and its proxies except Hamas keep out of the fight.
