Peace Arrangements of Convenience Never a Good Defense

Reader comment on item: Feeling Optimistic about Israel and the Emirates
in response to reader comment: I'm aware of that and it only makes things worse

This observer has already noted in other parts of this forum the reservation of skepticism at the portent this arrangement with the UAE bears in the complexities of 'international' relations between Israel and virtually every other national interest which have conflicting intentions, even as such conflicts are put aside for whatever purposes or motives (hudna is the word used elsewhere). The overused phrase, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend' popped into the thought process more than once; but evidently this may have t be run out to see if there is any substance of the expressed need each party is willing to invest.
That some, including the esteemed Dr. Pipes, expressing a 'deal killer' in the postponement of the annexation is thought to be at play, even the Presidency of the United States is not going to put off that which is inevitable; when it's time for it to be enacted, it will not be stopped. Neither will the reaction be put off; all concerned that have more than a nominal interest will be desirous of fulfilling that desire.
Strangely, the ones with the most to gain are not going to be the trigger, as once thought. As potentially mused over elsewhere, a greater division will be exploited that will bring all down with the house; and not even the American connection will be able to stop it. In Israel, the democracy will be lost because of it.
Israel's ancient history tells of the inadequacy of such arrangements if not made with proper assurance.
