I Disagree on All 5 Points!

Reader comment on item: How Trump Put Netanyahu in an Untenable Position

Your 5 points, one by one:
1) There was no possibility to change minds. The 2 congresswomen had planned their itineraries specifically to avoid meeting with any Israeli officials so they would not learn anything that might have changed their minds. Helms had no familial or ideological ties to Israel's enemies like these congresswomen.
2) Having another grudge against Israel will only take time away from the ones they already had. The humanitarian gesture was magnanimous, its rebuff revealing their true intentions to make trouble.
3) I don't believe that only criticism and statements were on the table. These ladies were out to make real trouble. Imagine them at the head of a mass border crossing.
4) Israel cannot control the narrative in a hostile global press any more than President Trump can. Nothing Israel does to make nice makes anyone but us feel good about ourselves.
5) If supporters of Israel are "deplatformed", then why not its critics? We don't get any points from our opponents for being silenced. They won't either. Just like retaliation in Gaza for missile attacks shows Israel is serious, so will retaliation in kind against our critics.
