Hi Michael

This is from Dario Fernandez Morera's book "The Myth of the Andalusian Paradise"

"Speaking of the Muslim presence in north Africa (the Muslim historian) ibn Khaldun marveled at the fact that "the buildings and constructions in Islam are comparatively few as compared to the dynasties preceding" Islam especially "considering Islam's power" he observed that the "buildings erected by the Arabs with a few exceptions quickly fall into ruins" The reason for this he wrote is the Arab Bedouins "attitude and unfamiliarity with the crafts" "therefore" he continued "the buildings (of the Arabs) are not solidly built."
