Dubai: fragile?

Reader comment on item: The Dubai Miracle Has Become Real

Yep there is this youthful exuberance in Dubai Inc. IMO there are a number of factors working for Dubai

1. Saudi next door. Immense wealth pours into Dubai every day with the Saudi tourist. As long as Sauid is Wahhabi, this will continue. This is billions of new dollars per year.
2. 90% of people are temporary. Dubai gets people at their best - already trained, young, eager to work. They pay them 50% more than their own country (having not paid for their education or training) and the moment they can not work or cause a problem they are immediately shipped back. They then become a liability to their own country. That is why you rarely see an old person in Dubai.
3. The banking system. All the corrupt leaders in the Middle East park their money in Dubai. CIA cant get to it. This is trillions of dollars.

Really the question, Daniel, is not why Dubai is so successful, it is why the West is so astoundingly stupid.

Not sure how the West is supposed to prevent skilled young people from going to Dubai.
