Wrong figures in Kashmir section.

Reader comment on item: Arab-Israeli Fatalities Rank 49th

Submitted by Ashaq (India), Sep 1, 2016 at 03:33

The figures given in Kashmir section viz 26000 are wrong since the fatalities from 1989 to present year 2016 are about 1 lakh. Even biased figures put them to 47,000. If we add the Muslims killed in the whole state since 1947 to these figures it amounts to 6 lakhs (See: The Muslim massacre in Jammu of 1947). Please correct the same.

Daniel Pipes replies:

For readers unfamiliar with Indian English, a lakh is 100,000.

My co-author worked out these numbers, so he - not me - would have to review your argument.
