Reader comment on item: Why I Rooted for the Turkish Coup Attempt

I, too, harbour suspicions about the genuineness of the attempted coup. A "false flag" uprising is a good way to flush out actual and potential opponents, and justify arrests.

The remarkable speed with which thousands of potential opponents were targeted suggests pre-compiled lists.
