Reader comment on item: How Turkey Went Bad
in response to reader comment: Wagdi Ghoneim is now a guest of Turkey and Erdogan and I would tell the Turks: Enjoy him

To Dhimmi no more:

When Wagdi Ghoneim was with the ISOC he was a sought after speaker. He was treated with reverence by Imams and the rank and file. When he did speak, he introduced a technique that has been followed since then. He would speak in Arabic, and one could tell from his body language and from the reaction of the crowd that it was a volatile presentation. Then someone would translate, perhaps with the media in mind or perhaps for non Muslims since the ISOC practiced interfaith outreach.

The translation would be a relatively benign composition. So non Arabic speakers would come away with the impression of Ghoneim as a moderate.
