Canadian pot shots at the US?

Reader comment on item: The Silver Lining of Obama's Weak America

Uhhhh, I think you need to read a little more history - real history and not an American-centric one - about the relationship that Canada has had with the US: an undefended border, largest trading partner, and many Canadian boys marching shoulder to shoulder and dying along side American ones in every conflict the US has been in over the past 113 years. Does Japan or Saudi Arabia share any of these? So to lump us in with them is ignorant.

And as far as "taking pot-shots" at the US..........we can and do disagree with our friends. Everyone does. If you want to take your ball and go home because we have our differences, only one of us would then be immature. But when it counts, we are there for you WAY before any other of your "allies" are, and we don't expect anything in return. Friends never do.

Things are different with PM Harper, but before him there was a long history of petty carping. That's what I referred to.
