an interesting contradiction: Freedom fighter tag for terrorists

Reader comment on item: Thoughts on the Release of 104 Palestinian Murderers
in response to reader comment: Freedom fighters tag for terrorists

Dear Dr Pipes:

Reader Irma Rochlin raised a question that has bothered me for a long time. What does it mean to be a freedom fighter? If the whole purpose of your fight is to create a draconian theology, are you still a freedom fighter?

If the goals of so called freedom fighters in Kashmir and Palestine were to establish capitalistic and secular democracies, would any one have opposed their freedom? In fact, would they still have needed freedom? Seeking freedom to establish a theocracy is a fundamentally contradictory situation!!
