Egypt is broke

Reader comment on item: Egypt's Real Ruler: Mohamed Tantawi

The turmoil in Egypt has left the country broke. The gathering in Tahrir Square was largely aided by homeless people in Cairo. Their numbers are not decreasing.

Eventually, the Ikhwan will be held responsible for Egypt's economic mess. Once public opinion shifts, the "old regime" may start to look good once again.
