If I understand Mr. Tovey right, the US have a moral obligation to defend Israel, because Israel will anyhow survive.

This leads to two questions:

If Israel will survive even if it is failed by the US, why should the US then use its resources to defend Israel ?

What are the common interests of Israel and the US. It is not enough to postulate, that the US has an obligation to defend Israel. You should also explain why Israel should stand by the side of the US.
