Schadenfreude not encouraged in Judeo-Christian tradition

I think the prophet Ezekiel, otherwise not well known for being shy of pronouncing judgment has a valuable point when he states(Ez 18:23):

"Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?"

I think we do well in imitating God in this regard. As that other representative of the tradition told us: "Love your enemies and PRAY for those who persecute you."
