Obama's current policy is dangerous for world peace

Reader comment on item: Obama's Failed Middle East Speech

Submitted by Frank Luke (United States), May 21, 2011 at 11:33

Not having studied Obama, I do not know what to make of his policy regarding the Israel-Palestine problem. But when he says, "The status quo is unsustainable, and Israel … must act boldly to advance a lasting peace", he seems to be kowtowing to extremists by doing the exact opposite of what USA needs to do. The President is being tough with the benign and appeasing towards extremists. If by the time a man becomes the President of this nation, he is unaware that Palestinians want to wipe out Israel from the map of the world, it does make one wonder if we were hasty in electing him to such an important position. Coming up with some "tough" sentences regarding what Palestine needs to do, is just politic-speak and comes across as insincere. We must speak openly and firmly against extremists (like Hamas and Palestine) and openly supportive of moderates (like Israel).
