Soon it will not matter

Reader comment on item: Is Saudi Arabia Opening Up?

Submitted by yuval Brandstetter MD (Israel), Jan 11, 2011 at 11:23

Tje vast oil resources of the Kingdom of Saud will soon be worthless as the Electric Vehicle is introduced in major numbers later this year.

Since more than half the world's oil is burnt for transportation , it stands to reason that when this oil is spurned, the price will drop, allowing government to tax it hugely, thereby keeping the price to the customer high while driving the clout of the oil nations down. Think of Arabia, Iran Iraq, Venezuella, Russia, unable to dictate policy due to a huge reduction in their wealth. Think fo balancing the US deficit by the simple expedient of not spending 500 billion annualy on foreign oil, couples with a major withdrawal of expensive military from assets not worth guarding. It a brave new world where Technology is finally unfettered by Oil
