Reader comment on item: Looking Back on DanielPipes.org's First Decade

Submitted by Alex (United States), Jan 3, 2011 at 13:14

I have always enjoyed Dr. Pipes' website, and I find it easily navigable and always full of interesting content, a rare real-time application of historical methodology to current events.

I especially appreciate Dr. Pipes' always responding to my questions.

One thing I have always wondered about is whether he has been able to continue reading early Islamic sources now that his work of the past two decades or more concentrates increasingly on current events. Do you still review the Qur'an and hadith or peek at the writings of Al-Ghazali or the history of Tabari, Dr. Pipes?

Daniel Pipes replies:

Thank you for the compliment.

I wish I could still maintain my interest in early Islam but current issues have largely pushed that aside for me.
